Dundee For Christ (D4C) are is a Christian event’s ministry
working to see Dundee Won for Jesus Christ.
D4C host exciting Christian events including ‘Resurrection
Day’, Dundee’s Easter Celebration that brings the Gospel of
Jesus Christ to thousands across the ‘City Of Discovery’
D4C has been making a big impact in this city for Jesus
since launching in 2003 attracting 16’000 people to hear the
gospel!. We passionately believe that ‘now’ is the time for
Dundee to discover Jesus!
Dundee For Christ has a committee and is backed by an
‘accountability group’ to whom all events, projects and
initiatives will be referred to for reference, guidance and
leading.
Ian Black has been Ministry Director of Dundee For Christ
since its launch in 2003.
Ian graduated from Aberdeen University in 1992 and moved
into Sports & Leisure management for 8 years before taking
on a marketing role with Dundee City Council in 2000.
Since the launch of the ministry opportunities grew quickly
and so in 2004 Ian moved to working a shorter 3 day week
with the Council to begin a 2 day week with D4C eventually
going full time with D4C in October 2006 to give Dundee For
Christ his utmost!
Ian Black married Sandra in 2003 and they have a young baby
girl Anna born October 2007.
Dundee For Christ are working together with the established
churches in Dundee to see the City won for Jesus Christ. Dundee
For Christ are co-ordinating various outreach events and projects,
including Resurrection Day, the City of Dundee's Easter Celebration.
Dundee For Christ has a committee and is backed by an ‘accountability
group’ to whom all events, projects and initiatives
will be referred to for reference, guidance and leading.
Dundee For Christ came into being in 2002 when the a series
of quirky thought provoking posters previously used in a Christian
media campaign in Singapore grabbed the attention of a number
of Christians in Dundee. It was agreed that the posters were
thought provoking and might challenge people to think about
God and the reason for Easter. The posters were used and sponsored
by churches across the City in the run up to Easter 2003 ( Click
here to download the posters).
In 2004 the group decided the run another similar powerful
poster campaign in the run up to Easter. This time the posters
encouraged people to attend an outreach event at the Caird
Hall entitled Resurrection Day. This event attracted 2000
people from across the City and this year had the support
of nearly 30 churches across Dundee.
Dundee For Christ is planning a number of events across the
City over the year ( see events calendar) and details will
be published shortly on the line up and details of Resurrection
Day 2005 which will be returning to the caird hall on Easter
Sunday, March 27th 2005.
Dundee For Christ hold to the Evangelical Alliance Statement
of Faith.
We believe in...
| |
|
|
| 1. |
|
The one true God who lives eternally
in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. |
| 2. |
|
The love, grace and sovereignty
of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and
judging the world. |
| 3. |
|
The divine inspiration and supreme
authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which
are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith
and conduct. |
| 4. |
|
The dignity of all people, made
male and female in God's image to love, be holy and
care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs
divine wrath and judgement. |
| 5. |
|
The incarnation of God’s eternal
Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary,
truly divine and truly human, yet without sin. |
| 6. |
|
The atoning sacrifice of Christ
on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of
sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God. |
| 7. |
|
The bodily resurrection of Christ,
the firstfruit of our resurrection; his ascension to
the Father, and his reign and |
| |
|
mediation as the only Saviour of
the world. |
| 8. |
|
The justification of sinners solely
by the grace of God through faith in Christ. |
| 9. |
|
The ministry of God the Holy Spirit,
who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through
new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our
witness. |
| 10. |
|
The Church, the body of Christ
both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given
life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts
to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice
and love. |
| 11. |
|
The personal and visible return
of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will
raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to
the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and
establish a new heaven and new earth. |
